Edgar Allan Poe. The ghosts of Confederate soldiers. The collapsed train tunnel beneath Church Hill. The Hollywood Cemetery vampire. Richmond has been a haunted town for centuries, going all the way back to the curse Chief Powhatan cast upon the area in the 17th century. In light of the city’s supernatural history, confining our Halloween celebrations to just one night never seemed like the way to go. This is why, nine years ago, RVA Magazine created the week long celebration of this uncanny holiday known as Halloweek.
Oh man, sorry it took so long to get these up - let's just say Halloweek really took it out of us. Here's a few highlights from Halloween night's Terror Triangle and Weezie-Ween party.
Halloweek couldn't be complete without an event at the RVA mainstay Sticky Rice. Tuesday night played ghost-host to Halloweek Karaoke, and it was a blast.
Happy Halloween RVA Mag fans. We thought we make things a little easier for you this year and give you a list of horror movies all readily available to those with a Netflix subscription.
Tonight! Tonight! Tonight! (Whoa-oh...)* Halloweek rolls on with a special Halloween edition of Karaoke at Sticky Rice! Come on out and hear zombies, robots, ghouls, and goblins faithfully recreate (or gloriously lay waste to) all of your favorite cheesy radio jams.
Halloween (and Halloweek!) would not be complete without the Richmond Zombie Walk, and this year was no exception. Take a look at a few of the amazing brain-eaters who gazed Cary St.
Oh man, our Halloweek kickoff party, Hangar 18, was a crazy success, but we couldn't have done it without you all.
Tomorrow night's Hangar 18 Halloween Fundraiser (party) is going to be a great chance to hang out with the community, see some great art, dance, check out the pyroship, etc... but lets not forget one of the most important elements of every party: THE BEER!
“She’s one mean, lean little Corsair…built in the city; conceived right from the heart of the city, in the East End, in Fulton Hill, RVA,” said Reef Clem of the Party Liberation Front (PLF). Her name is Flora Burn, and she is a pyroship art car that will be making an appearance at this Friday’s Hangar 18 Party.
Celebrate the Halloween spirit by shuffling through Carytown in your best zombie costume at the 9th Annual Richmond Zombie Walk this Saturday at 2:30pm. The event is a benefit for the American Cancer Society.
