Ansel Adams Exhibition Opens At The Mariners Museum In June
Famed environmentalist and photographer Ansel Adams will be featured in an exhibition opening at The Mariners' Museum in Newport News on Saturday, June 1. The exhibition, named Fragile Waters, focuses on the theme of water, and its vitality and value. Along with Adams, the exhibition will also feature photographs by Ernest H. Brooks II, and Dorothy Kerper Monnelly.

It's that magic time of year again--Memorial Day weekend. Punks and metalheads alike put aside their differences, load their cars up with water bottles, beer, and money for merch, and head to Baltimore to check out Maryland Deathfest, the year's biggest metal party--which has expanded in recent years to also include a ton of D-beat, punk, hardcore, etc. But for those who come up a little short this time of year due to the inevitable crappy realities of finding new apartments to live in, struggling to save for the summer, or just generally being broke, it can also be a huge bummer.
THURSDAY: Goth It Up At The Poe Museum's Unhappy Hour
This Thursday, The Poe Museum presents the latest edition of their Unhappy Hour, an informal ode to the macabre wit and mystery of Edgar Allan Poe. Held from 6 to 9 pm on the fourth Thursday between the months of April and October, each event has a theme based on a particular Poe story or poem, and this month focus is on "Annabel Lee," the last poem Poe completed before his death.
