Hang Glider - Hang Glider (Self-released)
This mysterious EP by a solo musician based in LA comes to the listener through a druggy, ambient haze, its synthesizer-driven pop feeling so languid that at times you'd think the tapes are slowed down on purpose. In fact, who's to say they aren't? It seems like the sort of move that would fit right in with Hang Glider's chilled out nearly-to-the-point-of-flatlining music. But don't get me wrong--this music is not boring or overly static. Not at all. In fact, if you can slow your biorhythms down to the point where you are on Hang Glider's wavelength, you will surely find yourself sinking into the vast, hypnotic depths of this deceptively expansive EP. This is the sort of music you put on after coming home from a night out at the club, when you are physically tired but somehow still feeling exhilirated by the aftereffects of the night. Hang Glider's music sounds like that hazy 4 AM pre-dawn sky, and at times like those, it'll soothe your racing mind enough that you can finally get to sleep.
