SATURDAY NIGHT: The Rockin' Massacre At Alleykatz!

This Saturday at Alleykatz, prepare for an all-day onslaught of Virginia metal bands, beginning at 3 PM and lasting far into the night. This event, known as the Rockin Massacre, mostly features bands whose brand of metal comes from a time when the genre didn't have a lot of subsections. No thrash, no death, no black, no core; it's just metal, of the sort that reigned in the mid-80s, when bands released albums featuring Frank Frazetta paintings on their covers and vocalists were known to hit dramatic high notes without placing tongue in cheek first. From the operatic vocals of Cassandra Syndrome's Irene Jericho to the power-metal stylings of A Sound Of Thunder and the almost hardcore-sounding chugging of Engulfed In Flames, there'll be something here to appeal to metal fans of all stripes.
