Check it out, everybody--here's a brand new video from Noah O, who put RVA hip hop on the national map once again last year with his hugely popular clip for "I Got It" (remember, you saw it here first). "Blowed," which also comes from Noah's latest mixtape, Thug Wilder For President, has a different feel to it than that of "I Got It'--instead of street-smart braggodocio, the mood here is deeper and more introspective. Noah O's got the song to himself this time, and he uses it to demonstrate his rhyme skills over three very solid verses that are underpinned by a pensively melodic hook that sounds downright emotional. That's not a bad thing, though--in varying up the mood, Noah demonstrates versatility and gets the chance to tell some recession-era hard luck stories that should sound sadly familiar to anybody listening. The video, directed by Jay Gregory of Cool Kids Forever Films, features trail effects to demonstrate that Noah and his friends are partying hard, but these scenes are contrasted with some evocative footage of a lonely woman walking home by herself. If you pay attention to the lyrics, the connection between the imagery and the song is quite clear. I really dig the breakdown towards the end, when the beat drops out and the music seems to disappear under a cloud, but really, the whole thing is great. Check it out.
