Calling all NOLA Bounce fans--and, for that matter, all the EDM kids who love Diplo's "Express Yourself" single, and all the punk rockers who were blown away by Big Freedia's set at Best Friends Day 2011. Two of the leading lights of the NOLA Bounce scene will be invading RVA to take over Strange Matter with the awesome power of booty-shaking funk. So let me just ask you right now--are you ready? You better be, because opportunities like this don't come around too often. Nicky Da B, who has helped bring NOLA Bounce to a whole new audience by appearing as the vocalist on Diplo's "Express Yourself," and Rusty Lazer, who is best known as the DJ and creative partner of Big Freedia but does plenty of DJ gigs on his own behalf, will both be in the building at Strange Matter next Wednesday, and their mission is to make you shake your ass. For those who don't know, NOLA Bounce is a genre that mixes the loudest, heaviest, most hypersexual house music tracks with the awesome power of the choruses on hip hop dancefloor bangers and loops it all over and over, louder than hell, until everyone in the place explodes from the sheer manic energy of it all. The highest-profile Bounce artists are often androgynous performers who play up the gender-bending angle to mess with the audience's perception of gender and sexuality. The artists are joined onstage by ass-shaking backup dancers, and everything gets pretty hot, sweaty, and crazy over the course of the evening. Sounds like the kind of thing you want to be a part of, right? Well, get over to Strange Matter this Wednesday and check it out. And make sure to wear your booty shorts!
