One of our favorite days of the year is fast approaching, and since no one wants it to be over after only 24 hours, RVA Magazine is once again proud to present our sixth annual weeklong Halloween celebration, Halloweek! Starting on Wednesday, October 25, we'll be bringing you seven days of Halloween-related events here in RVA. Everything from costume contests to the walking dead will be on tap for you this year, as well as plenty of live music, beer, and other Halloween-related fun! Plus, right here in this very post, you'll have the opportunity to enter into our huge Halloweek giveaway, featuring over $300 worth of prizes from a variety of local businesses. Read on to see what Halloweek has in store for you!

Radio Rubber Room presents Proverbial with The Dirty Picture Show @ The Republic (2053 W. Broad St.)
Halloweek kicks off in fine fashion at The Republic. Radio Rubber Room presents a Halloween-themed edition of their Wednesday night live music showcase, featuring RVA's finest seven-piece groove monster, Proverbial, along with special guests The Dirty Picture Show. The evening will also feature prize giveaways and a costume contest. Come out, dance it up, and get weird with these great local bands!
Starlite & The Village present The Halloweeklong Costume Contest!
Starlite & The Village Halloweeklong Costume Contests start this week, and you could win a whole slew of great prizes. It's really easy. WRIR Presents the 5th Annual Monster Mashquerade, featuring Goldrush, The Eurotics, & Red Hot Lava Men @ The Camel (1621 W. Broad St.)
Join Richmond's independent radio station, WRIR 97.3 FM, at The Camel for the fifth edition of their annual Halloween party, The Monster Mashquerade! The evening will feature live music from great RVA bands Goldrush and The Eurotics, as well as a special reunion of the Red Hot Lava Men. Inbetween live sets, music will be provided by WRIR DJs Michael Miracle of The Lotus Land Show and Melissa, host of Mercury Falls. As always, there'll be prizes awarded for the best costume and best mask. A $5-10 donation to WRIR gets you in the door--or present your WRIR Very Independent Person card and get in FREE!

Empire's Zombie Prom is back again! The living dead will be congregating for the ultimate enchanted evening, complete with prom photos. The soundtrack for dancing slow and eating brains will be provided by CRY, who'll be spinning rockabilly, garage, doo-wop and more. There'll be zombie makeup artists on hand for those who need assistance, so get all dolled up in your best formal wear and get ready to get downright rotten on the dancefloor at Empire!

Eighth Annual Richmond Zombie Walk @ Carytown
Richmond's proud Halloween-weekend tradition continues! Once again, zombies will attack Carytown at 2 PM Saturday afternoon, lumbering down the sidewalks and shocking passerby. If you want to walk with the zombies, report in costume to the boat lake in Byrd Park at 1 PM. Or just be in Carytown around 2 PM to see the full zombie parade. Official Zombie Walk After Party: Taco Hell & Night Slashers @ Don't Look Back (2929 W. Cary St.) & New York Deli (2920 W. Cary St.)
This amazing double-venue event begins Saturday afternoon and runs into the wee hours that night. These two restaurants are throwing one HUGE party, featuring DJs, photo booths, food & drink specials, and a huge costume contest featuring $100 cash, among other prizes, up for grabs! The evening begins at 5 PM at Don't Look Back, with Zombie Hour specials, a zombie and slasher makeup booth, zombie tacos (don't ask, don't tell), a horror-punk soundtrack by DJ Ipod, and prizes from Play N' Trade & West Coast Kix. Then at 10 PM, the party moves across the street to New York Deli, where Bobby La Beat and Stereo Faith will be spinning tunes all night long. The evening will be capped off with the costume contest, featuring huge prizes: 1st Place will receive $100 Cash & $250 Gift Certificate to Heroes & Ghosts; while 2nd place will receive Gift certificates from Kulture & West Coast Kix. Here comes the 6th installment of Richmond's biggest Halloween dance party--Spooky Throttle! This year it's bigger than ever with the headlining appearance of dubstep superstar Caspa, who has traveled all the way from the UK to blow minds, melt faces--and possibly even eat brains, depending on whether the zombie hordes catch up to him--with his signature brand of bass-bombing grime filth. He'll be joined by DMV dancefloor king 2Rip and local RVA talents Shugadadde, JMungz, and Hotpock3tz, who will keep the party going all night.
