Bijou Film Center to screen 'Neruda', depicting life & 1948 manhunt of poet/politician Pablo Neruda 3/23-26

Most of you know him as one of the most celebrated poets of the 20th century, but Chilean poet and politician Pablo Neruda also faced political persecution in 1948 after Chile outlawed communism.

The 2016 Chilean film "Neruda", which will be screened at the Bijou Film Center this weekend, takes you through the life of the famous writer, the manhunt for him after he's forced to go underground for publicly criticizing anti-communist President Gabriel González Videla's and his eventual arrest.

Pablo Larraín directed the film whose credits include the Academy Award-nominated films "JACKIE" and "NO". Check out the trailer for "Neruda" below.

"Neruda" will be shown at the Bijou Film Center Thursday March 23-Sunday, March 26. Tickets are $9.00 regularly and $7.00 for members. Showtimes are listed below.
