Ume "The Conductor"
Ume - live WOXY Lounge Act Session
Just a few weeks ago I asked for suggestions on whom to cover for this blog. Ume saw my post on Twitter and replied with their Richmond date. Upon hearing Ume’s music and seeing some photos I knew this would be a great band to share with you.

The night of the show I received a phone call around 7:45 “The band is going on in five minutes!” I rushed down to The Camel only to be surprised by full room of people and four other bands waiting for their turn to play. Ume tested the volume then launched into their short set of energetic rock songs. About half way through the set DJ Kenny arrived; later he explained a similar phone call and mad dash for the venue. I thought I was the only person that knew UME existed…

After the band packed up I got to shoot some fun portraits and share stories. Turns out they trade shows with my friends in Bellefea and were about to stay with them in North Carolina. They had just recorded a live set on one of my favorite internet radio stations WOXY and used Trail of Dead’s collection of vintage amplifiers to record the Sunshower EP.

Seeing Ume supports my theory that if you read “rock band” and “Austin, TX” on a flier there is a good chance you will not be disappointed!
