Richmond's own Perpetual Motion Machine have just released the new Kowloon Walled City album in an extremely limited run on vinyl and are offering a free download of the album.
From the press release-
"On "Gambling on the Richter Scale," their first full-length (and first outing with The Perpetual Motion Machine), Kowloon Walled City add a touch of finesse to the grinding pummel introduced on last year’s Turk Street EP, which drew comparisons to Neurosis, The Melvins and other low-end explorers, from the ‘90s AmRep roster to the current crop of sludgecore contenders. These eight new crushing tracks rage and roll through a wide range of influence, unleashing a barrage of noisy mid-paced hardcore, distortion-soaked sludge, and down-tuned, unholy heaviness. As with their last EP, the album was recorded and mixed by guitarist Scott Evans in the band's rehearsal space, which surely shows through on the band's gritty, raw recording.
The album is out now, available on vinyl 12" LP with CD included. It comes packaged in gloss varnish full color jackets, and is limited to 500 copies, with 200 on black/silver haze and 300 on clear, with cds enclosed in sleeves silk-screened by the band. For those unfamiliar and interested, the band and label are offering a free download of the entire album."
