Richmond loves zombies, and more than anything Richmond loves dressing, acting, and living like a zombie. Saturday is your chance to join the ranks of the brain-chewing herd. Get your makeup on, spray some fake blood, and tatter your clothes because the 5th annual Richmond Zombie Walk is this Saturday at 1pm. This will be the second major event of RVA's yearly Halloweek (the first is tomorrow's WRIR Masquerade Ball at New York Deli), and it's an all ages afternoon of zombified and zany fun.
RVA TV will be there, and we've got a treat for you to hold you over until Saturday; we know you want to be a zombie every day, but Saturday is your chance to live the nightmare and scare the unsuspecting crowds of Carytown.
Here's what you need to know from the Richmond Zombie Walk Crew:
WHEN
This year’s zombie walk will take place on Saturday, October 24th. Pre-walk meet up is at 1pm and the actual walk is at 2pm.
WHERE
This year, as always, we will walk Carytown. And that’s it. You will find that it is exhausting to lumber around just after a few blocks. In previous years some of the locations that we walked based popular suggestions have been “hit or miss”. We loose attendance with each new location, and there is some confusion with our out-of-town undead.
Just like last year, the pre-walk meeting spot will be at the parking lot of Benedictine High School at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 24th. it’s on the corner of N. Belmont Ave. and Hanover Ave. in the Museum District. (hanover and belmont richmond va 23221). CLICK HERE FOR GOOGLE DIRECTIONS
Also make sure to arrive at the meeting place in costume; we can’t leave the place all bloody when we leave.
MAKE UP & COSTUME WORKSHOPS
Stay tuned here for date/time/locations for our “How To” workshops
CONTESTS
Most disgusting, most creative, best group theme. We haven’t decided the categories. We’ll let you know soon. There will be PRIZES awarded the day of the event!
VICTIMS
Wanted: Willing victims (people to be turned into the undead in public)
SPONSORS
Our activities this year will benefit The American Cancer Society. Again,we won’t require anyone to make a donation, but if everyone can pitch in $5 each, it will be much appreciated. We were able to raise over $300 last year. An impressive goal that begs to be smashed this year. Let’s do this!
This is why you love RVA, and it's why Halloweek is the best week of the year (it's actually 9 days to fit in all the wicked things in the works). RVA TV will have a full video up for our Totally Insane Tuesday on 10/27, and if you show up, you may end up in the final piece!
