Autocue "Take It Slow"

Autocue "Right To Reason"

Back in September Autocue invited me to check out their practice space where most of their new EP was being recorded. The space is only a small part of the Mondial Creative Labs where Nick and Andrew both work during the day creating and editing motion graphics. Mondial also houses a halfpipe skateboard ramp and a video game room for a healthy amount of distraction.

In the practice room, Autocue have built an in-ear monitoring and recording system where all of their amps, drums and vocal microphones are connected to a computer. The system allows each person to adjust personal headphone mixes without affecting what is being recorded. A perfect setup for a modern practice/recording space.

The EP was recorded mostly in this space all together with the in-ear system, but overdubs and vocals were done simultaneously from two different apartments. The masters were then mixed and mastered back at the practice space.
