L.A. Sheriff/thug accosts, detains, insults & accuses photographer for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

This has happened to me before, but I wasn't presented with the level of gross ignorance that this poor photographer has to put up with. I was shooting in Union Station in DC, and was told by a security guard that I wasn't allowed to do so "because of the terrorism laws." When I asked which laws she was referring to, she threatened to call her supervisor, which I welcomed. Her supervisor was glad to report that I was breaking no rules whatsoever, and that unless the security guard saw me interrupting the flow of people or using a tripod, I was to be left alone. This photographer doesn't fare nearly as well as I did, however, I was dealing with a security guard who was willing to refer the situation to a higher authority- this photographer had to deal with a Sheriff who thinks he IS the law, and has no idea what he's talking about.

I see two clear lessons here- always know your rights as a photographer, and always be calm when you're being detained for doing nothing.
