La Mere Vipere "Survivor's Guilt"

La Mere Vipere has just released their debut full length "Final Audit of Mammon" as a free download. The following photographs are from three of the many recording sessions with John Chambers at the Etching Tin during 2009.

In the late 90's most of the members of La Mere Vipere were better known as the Seven Hearts. Back then the Seven Hearts and my first real band, Angels VS Aliens, played a lot of shows together. I can easily credit these guys for opening my naive ears to bands like The Birthday Party, Black Flag, The Fall, and many other similarly important punk and post punk bands. Being a teenager in Lynchburg before the widespread use of the internet meant that these guys were like my window into another world.

Other than the Seven Hears, members of La Mere Vipere have also performed and recorded in bands such as The Amoeba Men, Orgone, Leper Colony, Ratline and Eustress Urchin (which also included Horsehead singer Jon Brown).
