RICHMOND FAMOUS ft. Casey Longyear & Marshe Wyche

The Richmond Comedy Coalition's all-improvised monthly show series, Richmond Famous, features live and totally unscripted comedy, created on the spot, inspired by the true stories of some of RVA’s most interesting people.

The improvisers will be hearing their guests’ stories for the first time onstage and what unfolds afterwards is as much a mystery to them as it is to you, creating a show so funny you’d swear it was scripted (but you know it’s not).

*** This month, the RCC welcomes Casey Longyear and Marshe Wyche, the owners of Rumors Boutique, to the Gallery5 stage ***

ABOUT RUMORS AND OUR GUESTS

Rumors is Richmond's premiere thrift boutique, providing the south with pre-selected & pre-loved clothing for guys & girls. They buy, sell & trade clothing daily from customers, handpicking each item to ensure they offer a wide & varying selection of high quality clothing at starving artist prices.

The owners, Casey Longyear and Marshe Wyche, met in 2003 and opened Rumors' doors in 2007 without owing anyone a dime, meaning they slept on the store's floor and showered at the YMCA. Rumors opened as an independent boutique offering locally designed products, as well as exclusive international indie lines, but has since been revamped into Richmond's first thrift boutique.

In their first year they had over 400 bands play in the shop, held fundraisers for over 25 nonprofits, and were exhausted, broke and loving their lives.

Today, they are still trading daily with the diversely fashionable community of Richmond, traveling the states in search of lucky finds, spreading as much positive energy as they possibly can and, in mid-June, Rumors will be expanding and moving to a new location at 723 W. Broad Street!
Girls Rock! RVA Documentary Screening

You're cordially invited to join us for a free screening of our own homegrown documentary about Girls Rock! RVA's inaugural camp last summer! We screened it at VCU's Commons Theater a few months back, and folks who couldn't make it were asking about encore showings; now's your chance!

On May 25th, Girls Rock! RVA will work in collaboration with the folks at Lamplighter Coffee Company to screen the GR! RVA documentary at Final Fridays, a family-friendly block party/art market event. This event will also be an instrument drive for GR! RVA! Since we expect more campers this year, we need many more instruments than we had last year! We will be collecting any musical gear that you are willing to donate to the camp. Even if your gear is in disrepair, feel free to bring it by. If you are unwilling to part forever with your gear, you can loan gear for the week of camp. Also, cash donations are always very appreciated! And merchandise will be available for purchase at the screening.

Final Friday is FREE and begins at 6 p.m. on May 25th at Lamplighter. We'll begin screening the documentary at sundown. Please join us!

Playing up and down the east coast and as far west as Houston texas he is a true force to be reckoned with blending styles of liquid, jump up neuro funk and drumstep to create fluid mixes and high energy sets. Throughout the years Chris Conduktor has opened for such acts as, Evol Intent , Dara, DB, Crissy Criss, Dj SS, Run Dmt, J Rabbit, Trigga Happy, Dirty Deeds and many more. In 2008 ConduKtor was appointed Usa Owner / Managing director of the former Musicnation.net which was backed by the mighty Formation Records (UK).
https://www.facebook.com/djconduktor/info

D.J. RUHL

RUHL was born in Santa Clara Cali and raised in Richmond, VA.
Representing RVA, RUHL has shredded numerous bars, clubs, festivals, and private parties throughout VA. His style cannot be matched or copied. He flows from the darkest sounds of Dubstep to the highest points of Trance. He will spin anything that has it's own originality to it. His original productions are filled with heart and soul; complete with abstract elements, huge buildups, atmospheric drops, and sinister beats. RUHL will take on any genre and infuse it into a work of art!!! Catch him live, he's just getting started!!!
To travel the world and find something that sounds interesting is heaven to him. He got a late start in the dj game, but has aggressively worked hard and taken his chunk of the scene. He is not scared to take on any and every hardware, software, or instrument in his way and likewise, with his choice of music, cannot be pigeonholed into one genre. So whether you like Electro, Synth-Pop, House, Trance, Progressive, Downtempo, Chill, Industrial, Breaks, Dubstep, etc... he will catch your ear at some point..... he is RUHL!!!

RudeeBeatz

I started my musical journey around the age of 9 first learning to play the guitar and eventually picking up the drums, piano and some vocals here and there. I spent a large portion of my life playing in various metal bands around Richmond, but eventually found my love for EDM. Nothing compares to the good people, the good times and most importantly the good music that comes along with this world of it's own and I wouldn't trade it for anything! I'm always learning, and progressing in different directions with my tunes and vision for myself as RudeeBeatz. Always trying new things and developing more and more as an artist, producer and person each day. I'm thankful for the journey so far and for the people that support this scene and also me for what I do personally. Much Love to you guys and more Beatz to come soon! ♥
