RVA"s Miramar featured on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert

RVA's Miramar was recently featured on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series with an exceptional performance of songs from their debut album, Dedication To Sylvia Rexach, which was released in June via Barbès Records.

For those that don't know the band, the three-piece has revived the bolero, romantic ballads that originated in Cuba at the turn of the 20th century.

Singers Rei Alvarez and Laura Ann Singh, who make up the upbeat local salsa group Bio Ritmo, harmonize over the sounds of organ, bongos and flamenco guitars and are accompanied by Marlysse Simmons Argadoñ on piano.

Their latest album, which was recorded at Minimum Wage Recording, is 10-cover tracks of Puerto Rican bolero composer Sylvia Rexach, who founded "Las Damiselas", the first Combo in Puerto Rico consisting entirely of women.
