Peter $un, “Jinchuriki”

Sunset Castle, the newest EP by Richmond’s Peter $un, sounds airy and light, but its themes are anything but. Being left behind, relationship trouble, and incarceration are just some of the subjects touched on by the rapper throughout his EP. The record debuted exclusively on KarmaLoop’s KLX blog in early January.

Single “Jinchuriki,” whose video was directed locally by Ken Kwaku Jr, is a good primer for new fans. The title of the track is a reference to the manga/anime megafranchise Naruto. $un told KLX that “Naruto was always left out in the village and spending time on his own. That’s how I was growing up and at school.”
