The city has decided to spend $250,000 on a new sign for Carytown.

The city has decided to spend $250,000 on a new sign for Carytown.

Whether or not this is a good idea – the comment thread on the TD story paints a pretty negative picture – we’d love to see how Richmond’s own creatives and designers would spend $250,000 on a new sign for Richmond’s favorite shopping district.

Those which stand out (make us laugh, get the most public support, or are genuinely brilliant) could win a $100 gift card from Mellow Mushroom in Carytown.

TO ENTER: Put your image on twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #NewCaryTownSign or email them directly to us at hello@rvamag.com

Here’s the proposed sign below – feel free to use this image as inspirado. And big props to Billy Mutter for our headline image on this post.

We might snag some of the hashtagged images and post them on our social media to help support the contest – we’ll give credit best we can.

We’ll run this bad boy for a week or so, and winners will be contacted via the social media used to reach us.

Good luck RVA creatives, and lets keep this fun.
