RVA’s Beer Bracket Sweet 16 Round 3 was one of the toughest and close rounds of this tourney.

RVA’s Beer Bracket Sweet 16 Round 3 was one of the toughest and close rounds of this tourney.

Representing the Downtown/Shockoe division were four teams with great followings and really tight matchups. Capital Ale House, with its large selection of beers, barely squeezed out a win against everyone’s favorite Legend in town: Legend Brewery. The Roosevelt also pulled out a classic win in the Church Hill area over local rival Patrick Henry Pub.

The Fan/Scott’s Addition division continues to be a highly contested area, with some leading beer spots pulling in a lot of votes. The ever-popular Hardywood scored a close win against one of the most popular beer bars in the Fan: Joe’s Inn. The Cask Cafe, as a newcomer to the scene, is really having a strong tournament. They stop the big run made by Postbellum, in a epic Fan beer battle.

Heading up the way to the Carytown/Museum District division, we have some big rivals that were bound to eventually meet up. Portrait House just barely pulled out a big win over everyone’s favorite pizza spot in town, Mellow Mushroom. Then we have sisters battling to the end, with Don’t Look Back pulling out an impressive victory over the beloved New York Deli. This sets the stage for what could end up as a huge battle in the end, to see who represents Carytown in the Final Four!

The strong teams of the West End/Southside Division continue to draw in some of the biggest vote totals in some well-fought battles. One of the top seeds in the whole tourney, Mekong, continues its dominance in the beer bracket by ending the strong run of Once Upon A Vine (Southside). Strangeways Brewing’s entire tournament has been an amazing run against some tough teams. The run continues as it beats out Libbie Market on its way to meet the Juggernaut ahead.

And now: here we are at the Elite 8!!! Congrats to all the teams!!

Here are the remaining matchups:

Downtown/Shockoe: Capital Ale House vs The Roosevelt
The Fan/Scott’s Addition: Hardywood vs The Cask Cafe
Carytown/Museum District: Portrait House Vs Don’t Look Back
West End/Southside: Mekong vs Strangeways

Cast your votes for our matchups for Round 4, and feel free to share this bracket with friends and businesses in our community.

Round 4 voting ends Friday, April 4 at noon. We will list winners on Friday at 6 PM and start up round 5, the Final Four, at that time. Have fun!
