Guitar-slinging, disco-swinging Montreal duo Chromeo just released their fourth album today, and in a shocking coincidence, they’ll be performing live at The National tomorrow! The new album is called White Women, which certainly seems a little sketchy, but concerned Caucasian parents need not ground their daughters tomorrow night–all Chromeo wants the white women (and everyone else in the crowd) to do is dance.

They’re providing plenty of reasons to move your feet with their brand-new album, as well. White Women is currently the top-selling album on iTunes (buy your own copy at http://smarturl.it/WhiteWomen), and is riding high on the success of three pre-release singles. The first of these is “Over Your Shoulder,” which mixes disco guitar and funky bass with some analog synth sounds straight out of Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like An Eagle.” The lyrics are straight pickup artist shit, as Dave-1 drops some textbook negs like “even though you’ve got small breasts, to me they look the best” and “you worry about your size; it’s nonsense–it’s not a contest. And besides, if it was a contest, you’d win it.” It’s proof positive that the lines a girl hears when she’s out at the club on Friday night would sound a lot better backed by some classic Chic-style riffage.

Meanwhile, “Over Your Shoulder”‘s video shows us a skinny nerd getting down by himself in his bedroom, complete with 70s-style headphones and some really tight pants. This guy’s got moves like Napoleon Dynamite, and you can enjoy those moves–and their funky soundtrack–by watching below:

This is really nothing new for Chromeo, who’ve been turning sleazy nightclub hustlin’ into electro-disco gold for over a decade now, going back to their earliest singles in 2002. From their first album, 2004’s She’s In Control, they always showed strong influence from early 80s disco-funk, taking inspiration from Michael Jackson, Hall & Oates, and Cameo. But Chromeo bring in some new sounds as well on their latest album, which features high profile collaborations with such superstars as Vampire Weekend, Toro Y Moi, and Solange Knowles. You can hear “Ezra’s Interlude,” the short but sweet piano-driven ballad from White Women featuring Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig duetting with Dave-1, below:

While we can’t expect Ezra Koenig to make the scene tomorrow night at The National, you can look forward to an opening set from producer/DJ duo Oliver, an LA-based crew that recently released an EP called Mechanical through Fools Gold, as well as contributing production assistance throughout Chromeo’s White Women. Whether they’ll actually stick around to help out with Chromeo’s live set is something you won’t know unless you show up–and let’s face it, even then you probably won’t know, because you’ll be too busy dancing.
