Richmond Police closed Bryan Park this morning after effigies of white hooded figures were found hung from trees. Anonymous activist art group Indecline is behind the action, which they documented in a video titled “Ku Klux Klowns”.

The action was planned in advance and is not connected to the possible CSA protest planned for September 16. Indecline issued a statement to CBS 6 on the action, which they say was conceptualized this spring as a protest against White Nationalist uprisings. They selected Richmond for its legacy as the capital of the Confederacy, and Bryan Park because it was the site of Gabriel Prosser’s attempted slave rebellion in 1800.
