“When Nate first got on my radar, it was via SNACK TRUCK. Thanks to @falseidolstoys for this wonderful discovery. There were so many Virginia-based bands absolutely knocking it out of the park, really helping me and my bandmates in our project at the time, The Jefferson Plane Crash, understand how far we could push the boundaries in writing material. SNACK TRUCK was, and still is, one of the best.
When I relocated to Richmond many moons ago, I started my membership at the downtown YMCA and was smitten when Jay, the bassist of SNACK TRUCK, approached me to pick my brain on ways to improve his exercise experience. He was fighting cancer, and the doctors had suggested he start fighting it back. It was an honor to give him whatever knowledge I had on lifting, as he had given me so much knowledge of music for so many years. RIP Jay. You’re the best, dude.
When I first got the opportunity to witness Nate performing as GULL, I was so pumped. One man show. So many different instruments, all at once, he’s like an octopus creating beautiful chaos. It’s a must-see. Super appreciative of GULL for taking the time to sit and chat with us. You’ll get to learn a lot about him. This one is all over the place, mastering skateboarding, tracking birds, smoking a cigarette with a not-so-recommended part of your body, and most importantly, music. Sincerely hope everyone is doing great. Pipeline is shut down again. FACK.” — host, Harrison Christy
