To say I’m a little pissed is an understatement.
To say I’m a little pissed is an understatement. Draft Magazine has released its 2014 Best Beer Bars in the US list and it’s got ZERO bars from RVA on the list. To be fair, two Virginia bars did make it – Beer Run in Charlottesville and The Birch in Norfolk. Props to both of these fine establishments, but what the hell, Draft Mag. Here’s what the list’s authors said about who made the list and why:
Having well-cared for, thoughtfully selected beer with an eye toward variety, trends and tradition, in the kind of place you’d want to stay awhile, delivered by someone who knows their stuff. We don’t want to send you to a place where the server doesn’t look up from her texting when you ask questions, or where you’ll be told a saison “is basically a lager.” (And yes, both of those things happened on our visits.)
Perhaps they didn’t stop at any bars in Richmond? Again, we’re not dissing the two VA bars that made the list, but I think we all know places like Mekong, Cap Ale, or any number of the other fine local draft houses here in town should have made the list.
You all have any other ideas for local bars that should have made the list? Let us know in the comments below.
