Tapped: Isley’s Shake It Up Baby!, Garden Grove’s Orange Crush Belgian Wit, & Strangeways’ double sour release

What’s happening craft beer lovers of RVA?! Welcome to this week’s “Tapped,” RVA Magazine’s go to weekly craft beer column where you can find all your craft beer-related events, releases, festivals and all the booze news your little hearts desire.

Our cup is overflowing with news this week, but first head over here to check out what awesome brews were released in Richmond last weekend.

So 2017 started off pretty crazy and it seems it’s just getting crazier by the day, but one thing you can count on is RVA Mag will always have the scoop on where you can go to get the finest craft beer in town! This week we have new beer releases, events, and other cool happenings around town, so hold on to your mugs because we’re getting ready to tap this thing!

Legend Brewing Co will release their Summer seasonal the ‘Z Dam’, a pale gold ale on Thursday. It’s a pub pre-release which will be released to the market on Monday.

Hardywood’s Food Truck Court returns again this Thursday from 5:30 pm to 9pm. Craft beer and a diverse lineup of food trucks are in store including Gelati Celesti, Sammich, Slideways Mobile Bistro, King of Pops and more. See link above for full list of vendors.

On Sunday, the 9th Annual RVA FASHION WEEK will conclude with the annual Trunk Show at Hardywood. Check out clothing, jewelry, art, beauty products and accessories from RVA vendors. Stop by from 1p-5p and enjoy live music starting at 3pm, food trucks, great beer and RVA Fashion. This event is FREE and open to the public.

Triple Crossing will host a vinyl listening party of Gorillaz’ Demon Days this Thursday. To celebrate the occasion, they’re bringing back their Demon Days Hoppy Red Ale on draft and in crowlers.

Isley has two very cool releases for you this weekend. They’ll have their weekly infusion on Friday, this time putting together their Need For Greed brew with coffee.

On Saturday, Isley will release Shake It Up Baby!, a cherry wheat milkshake dessert beer. A simple wheat base brew, with 10 pounds of natural cherry added. Check out more details on the brew at the link above.

Strangeways Brewing has several awesome events going on this weekend. Their monthly Cheers 4 Charity kicks off tonight, this event benefiting Caritas. From 4-9pm on April 26th, the brewery will donate 10% of all sales to the organization. You’ll also have one last chance to buy a raffle ticket to win a Strangeways Swag Bag valued at $350 and includes a FREE private event! CARITAS is the largest homeless services provider in Central Virginia, transforms lives and restores dignity through its four programs.

O.T.I.S Cucumber Melon Sour returns to Strangeways this Saturday with two tasty variants. Enjoy a trio of sours: O.T.I.S. Cucumber Melon Sour, O.T.I.S. Gin Barrel Aged with Juniper and Rose Hips, and O.T.I.S. Tequila Barrel Aged with Lime.

Origin Beer Lab in Ashland and Buskey Cider will release their collaborative beer/cider hybrid on Thursday.

Garden Grove will release its new brew this weekend, Orange Crush Belgian Wit. Check for this citrusy 4% brew at the Carytown brewery either Friday or Saturday.
