2nd Best Fest: Kornfeld and Andrews & More!

Improv from Wolf Night, stand-up from Rachel Marsh, and a headline duo set from Kornfeld & Andrews.

The Coalition Theater proudly presents the 8th Annual 2ND BEST FEST—a three-day comedy extravaganza showcasing the best in improv, sketch, and stand-up. Running June 5–7, this year’s festival brings high-caliber acts from LA, Chicago, NYC, Baltimore, Raleigh, DC, and RVA to four incredible venues in Richmond’s Downtown Arts District.

Closing night at Theatre Gym ends on a high note. Stand-up Rachel Marsh kicks things off followed by long-form improv from Coalition house team Wolf Night. Finally, Kornfeld & Andrews close the night with their acclaimed two-person improv.

Rachel Marsh is an award-winning writer and a non-award-winning comedian in Chicago. She’s performed at theaters like Second City, Laugh Factory, and one time in a parking lot. She did improv for many years but eventually transitioned to standup in an effort to win back the respect of her parents.

Wolf Night is a ragtag team of drop-outs, losers, and absolute fools . As one of the improv house teams at Richmond’s Coalition Theater, they’ve emerged as a goofy, idiosyncratic group able to balance an exploration of games with emotionally grounded character work. Be prepared for a weird and wondrous journey where the only guarantee is a hell of a good time.

Seasoned performers, longtime instructors, and all-around swell guys Rick Andrews and Louis Kornfeld combine their improv powers for a longform show that’s as honest as it is hilarious. With a patient, nuanced style, they create a textured world filled with characters that will make you laugh and move you all at the same time. It’s comedy. It’s theater.
