Living Historian Charles Wissinger presents the Marquis de Lafayette, the marvelously fascinating gentleman from France, in this informative and entertaining program. Born into nobility and baptized Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, the young Marquis made his way to America on his own dime, served under General Washington from Valley Forge to Yorktown, and returned in 1824 for a 13-month journey through 24 states, a true American hero.
Charles Wissinger has been on HBO, PBS, American Heroes Channel, History Channel, National Geographic, the big screen, films in museums, and multiple local theaters in central Virginia. He still works with the Historic St. John’s Church Foundation re-enacting Patrick Henry’s “Liberty or Death” speech, and doing first person presentations as Audie Murphy, Marquis De Lafayette, Francis Scott Key, and Edgar Allan Poe, among others. Since August Charles has been traveling the country as Lafayette for the 200th anniversary of Lafayette’s last tour of the US.
