Pride Month is over for another year, and that’s a bummer especially in 2022, when the forces of hate are on the march and the Supreme Court has all of us running scared. Scared that in another year or two our marriages, maybe even our rights to be in loving relationships, will disappear. It’s rough, and honestly, I can’t think about it for long without freaking out a little. So before we all lose our minds, let’s try and have one last slice of the last thing that brought us happiness.
For me, that was Hampton Roads Pride Fest at Town Point Park in Norfolk last Saturday. My wife, Sara Wheeler, took a ton of great photos at the event, and I only shared the barest minimum of them with y’all on Monday when I wrote about Hampton Roads Pride the first time. I don’t have much else to add to what I wrote then, but I have a whole bunch more photos to show you. So hey, let’s all look at these and see if we can find one more reason to smile, real quick, before we go back to freaking out. How’s that sound?
Sounds good to me too. Without further ado:
And now a little mini-feature straight from Sara’s heart: The Dogs Of Hampton Roads Pride Fest!
Well, folks, there you have it. And now Pride Month is over for another year, and we get to spend this long weekend listening to massive amounts of fireworks explode all over our neighborhoods. If the idea of celebrating the United States of America has you feeling a bit ambivalent right now, believe me, I get it. But try to have a good weekend, regardless of whether that means avoiding all patriotic celebrations like the plague. We gotta find our happiness where we can.
