Ladies and gentlemen, for the fifth year in a row, Virgin Mobile will be presenting their free festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion–and you can grab a pair of tickets before they’re available to the general public thanks to your friends at RVA Magazine! This year’s Virgin Mobile FreeFest, held on Saturday, September 21 and presented by Samsung, offers something for everyone, with indie heroes Vampire Weekend, R&B superstar Robin Thicke, electronic music auteur Pretty Lights, and Americana standard-bearers The Avett Brothers topping a bill that features a full day of amazing music on two stages, as well as the Dance Forest. Tens of thousands of fans will get to attend, but just because it’s free doesn’t mean it’ll be easy to score tickets. At noon on Friday, August 9, the tickets will go “on free” via ticketfly.com. Virgin Mobile customers, prior Virgin Mobile FreeFest ticket holders, as well as Virgin Mobile facebook friends and twitter followers will all get notification of a presale (pre-free?) on Thursday, August 8. And all of these tickets are expected to go extremely fast. After all, everyone will want them, and they don’t cost anything, so why not? Last year, 50,000 tickets were given away in a matter of minutes–so if you want to grab some this year, it’ll take speed, skill, and effort.

Then again, why go through all that? Your friends at RVA Mag are giving away a pair of tickets before they go on sale! That’s right–you can beat the rush and land yourself a pair of tickets simply by entering your info into the handy little widget below this paragraph. You’ve got until Thursday, August 8 at 5 PM, which is nearly two weeks away–but why wait? Enter now, and look out for bonus chances to win!

The full lineup for the 2013 Virgin Mobile FreeFest was announced this year in a unique manner–displayed on a mural painted on the side of the Sasha Bruce RE*Generation House, a homeless youth shelter in Washington DC that will be the primary beneficiary from the proceeds of this year’s FreeFest. And just for you, we’ve got a full video presentation of that lineup below. Take a look and find out about all the great music you will be able to see this year for FREE at Merriweather Post Pavilion, courtesy of Virgin Mobile and Samsung!
