Lightfoot, a group fronted by recent Richmond transplant Jessica Louise Dye, just released a charming video filmed here in Richmond for their song “1963,” which is from their soon-to-be-released EP Scarlet Sails. The video, in which Jessica roams around Richmond on an impromptu scavenger hunt, features some great local sights, from scenes shot inside local businesses Chop Suey Books and Lift Coffee to trips around Main Street Station and Belle Isle. The music is quite lovely as well, a hazy tune that mixes 60s pop influences with a slight alt-country twang and some surprising instrumentation, notably a trumpet, which works well in the context the song creates. Scarlet Sails will be released very soon, and Lightfoot is holding a release party for the EP at The Black Cat in Washington DC on Friday, January 27.
