Looks like Silver Persinger wasn’t the only one filming performances at the Third Annual Summer Solstice Power Jam out on Belle Isle this past Saturday afternoon. Looks like Silver Persinger wasn’t the only one filming performances at the Third Annual Summer Solstice Power Jam out on Belle Isle this past Saturday afternoon. RVA cameraman extraordinaire Todd Raviotta checks in with this lovely video of The Garbers, a relatively new local trio fronted by Allison Apperson, formerly of Hot Lava and The Catnip Dreams. Here, she and the rest of the group play a lightweight, airy pop tune featuring plenty of vocal harmonies and a great, catchy melody. Keyboardist Matt Deans breaks out a melodica for the track, while drummer Giustino Riccio (also of Fuzzy Baby and Bio Ritmo) keeps time on congas. I was surprised to see Allison singing into a microphone–were they using a battery-powered PA, or what? I guess I’d know if I ever managed to make it out to one of these things. Thankfully, videographers like Raviotta and Persinger are around to help dispel my ignorance and let all of us in on the things we might have missed the first time. With that in mind, enjoy this little slice of pop heaven from The Garbers:
