F.Low – Nameless (Hot Bars Music Group)
Richmond rapper F.Low has given himself the same title as his EP: Nameless. On his new EP, F.Low caries us through the trials and tribulations of becoming an emcee in the RVA. After you hear this album, you will get a better perspective on his grind and why he considers himself to be nameless.

As you press play it starts off with jazzy horns and melodic bells that will quickly catch any hip hop head’s attention. The message is straightforward, with songs like “Love Me, Love Me Not” and “R&R (Rhyming and Recording).” The song “So Original,” in which he describes his talent and versatility, and how he differentiates himself from other locals, is one of my personal favorites on this E. Another song that caught my attention is “Best In The World.” The title had me questioning the track, until I listened to his lyrics and delivery–in the song, he explains that he feels the opposite of what haters say about him.

“Super Ni**a” and “SwagMan” both show F.Low’s commercial appeal. “SwagMan” also has the 1960’s Batman theme melody, which will catch anyone’s attention. “The Cypher”, on which he receives help from labelmates Bittersweet and G Billz, shows his street appeal and gritty side. The “SwagMan (Super Remix)” has a wide range of locals on it that keeps the melody stuck in your head, and “State Of Failure” has a message that will show you the local Hip Hop game through F.Low’s eyes.
“Lyrics, bars and banging beats make this EP a local classic,” says a spectator at hip hop show. “He delivers a message behind his music that takes me back to real lyricism.” Overall, Nameless is a good “vibe and listen” type of EP that takes you on the journeys of a local emcee and shows you how he can feel in this scene. F.Low reveals his style and character, with lyrics and beats to match. Many features help make this EP a must-hear. I’m excited to see what comes from him and his label in the future.
