Metal fans, rejoice! This is a truly momentous occasion. In celebration of Danzig’s 25th anniversary as a band, Glenn and the boys have been traveling all over the country with special guest Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, Glenn’s former Misfits bandmate, along for the ride–and they’ll be in Norfolk next week! Not only have Danzig been doing a set laden with their best-known songs–“Mother,” “Twist Of Cain,” “Her Black Wings,” “Dirty Black Summer”–they’ve been teaming up with Doyle to do a set of classic Misfits tunes every night. In light of how ridiculous the Jerry Only-fronted lineup of the Misfits has gotten in recent years, this is the closest you’re going to get to hearing these songs done right, by more than one original member of the band. Check out this video of Danzig with Doyle doing “Death Comes Ripping” and “Skulls” earlier this year:

In addition to the awesome 25th Anniversary Danzig/Misfits set you’ll get as part of this show, there are some heavy-hitting openers on the bill as well. A Pale Horse Named Death, featuring former Type O Negative members Sal Abruscato and Johnny Kelly (who is also currently playing drums for Danzig), will present a set of their trademark dark, doomy blues-metal. All-female (except for their male bass player–how’s that for a switch) thrashers Butcher Babies are also on the bill, and the whole thing will be opened up by Texas Hippie Coalition, who come across as some kind of evil alternate-universe version of Lynyrd Skynyrd or something. If nothing else, it should be an entertaining night from beginning to end–and Danzig’s milestone set featuring the best songs by both Danzig and the Misfits will be worth the price of admission all by itself. So make sure you’re there!
