Richmond’s Gritty City records has been making impacts around the region for years, and this new track from Sophisticated Basic, produced by Profound 79 and featuring rhymes by Fan Ran, is sure to make the list of solid tracks from the label’s already-epic catalog.

“I’m trying to do albums with people instead of just throwing songs out, yea know?” said Fan Ran when we caught up with him a few weeks back.

And his lineup of current projects is extensive. He’s been working with Johnny Ciggs, Delta Automatik, Skweeky Watahfawlz, Moe Hendrix, Fugitive 9, and others with albums and tracks set to be released in the coming months.

Check out Ran’s latest production effort with Sophisticated Basic below:

Ran originally hooked up with Gritty City through Beenofficial from Divine Profitz. Ran had some beats he was sitting on, and met up with Johnny Ciggs. All 15 of the beats he brought to the table worked out and they got to work in the studio.

“I’m happy; just excited to be working with people,” said Ran. The Elegance Project and the Johnny Ciggs records should drop before the end of the year, and expect more collabs between Ran and Gritty City next year.
