G Jones is coming to town December 5th at the Broadberry for Low End Ballers, brought to you by Dr. Bastard Productions & U-Foria.
A west coast music producer who makes what he calls “broken-beat bass music,” Jones has been producing the past few years, steadily gaining popularity and a following. “I started producing because I wanted to be able to write music without having to rely on other people like when you’re in a band,” said Jones via email.
It’s hard to give his music an exact genre, as it falls somewhere between dubstep, trap, garage, and electronica. It’s mostly really cool experimental bass music, with a variety of minimalist feels within the production. G Jones gets his inspiration from everything he hears in multiple genres of music – and you can hear that in his various sounds.
When it comes to other producers he is inspired by, the list includes Eprom, DJ Rashad, and Mr. Carmack.
One of the best things about Jones is his prolific workrate–the sheer amount of tracks he puts out is stunning. He is constantly working, and with frequent releases appearing through his soundcloud. He also likes to collaborate, working with other popular producers like Minnesota, The Widdler, Bleep Bloop, Doshy, and Mad Zack.
Overall, G Jones lets his music speak for itself–so with that in mind, here are a few tracks and mixes to check out:
