GHOST OF POP: Horsehead

by | Dec 7, 2011 | MUSIC

While Ghost of Pop tends to focus on certain pop tropes, they don’t let approach get in the way of who is invited. By involving the likes of J Seger, David Shultz and the Skyline, Mermaid Skeletons and even Palominos over the years, the showcase has been able to spend a part of the night focusing on folk’s answer to the pop conundrum. This year, Horsehead has taken on the role of that group. With their traditional appearances, they approach their songs with a little twang in their voices and a couple open chords to carry them through with strength. The heart of Horsehead is in their delectable charm, and their penchant for developing fully realized Southern rock anthems. Considering the bands who have played the Ghost of Pop over the last six years, Horsehead should feel right at home bringing in that Southern charm.
