The Martin Agency, known for its award-winning advertising campaigns, has put Richmond on the global map. Now, it’s giving back with the launch of its highly anticipated live music series, The Mix at Martin, which kicked off with an intimate, powerful performance from Richmond’s own Nickelus F.

You can read our recent interview with him HERE.

We were there to witness the show, and Nickelus F transformed his rap into intimate storytelling, reminiscent of the classic MTV Unplugged sessions. It was an incredible experience to see it live considering what his live shows usually are like, which you can see that HERE.

The Mix at Martin combines live performances with a high-quality production, blending intimate concert experiences with top-tier audio and video provided by their production partner, SuperJoy. The series aims to spotlight both emerging and established musicians across various genres.

For its debut, Nickelus F—one of Richmond’s most influential hip-hop artists—took the stage at Shockoe House in downtown Richmond.

Anyone familiar with Nickelus F’s work knows how unforgettable his performances are. Fresh off the release of his acclaimed album MMCHT, he captivated the audience with his deeply personal and powerful storytelling through rap.

Reflecting on the event, Nickelus F said, “This felt like a full-circle moment. I’ve been doing my thing for years, but this performance felt different. The love from the city, the energy in the room—it’s everything. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of something that brings Richmond’s community and music scene together.”

Danny Robinson, CEO of The Martin Agency, highlighted the series’ importance: “Music has always been at the core of what we do. This series brings that passion to life—not just for our creators, but for the entire RVA community. Nickelus F set the bar high for what’s to come.”
