Municipal Waste has a lot going on this month! Not only are they releasing their fifth full-length LP, The Fatal Feast, on Nuclear Blast Records next week, they’ll also be releasing a limited-edition blue vinyl 7″ single through Scion A/V, the automobile manufacturer that’s also a record label. The A-side of that 7″ features “Repossession,” from The Fatal Feast, but it’s the B-side that will appeal most strongly to diehard Municipal Waste fans.

The A-side of that 7″ features “Repossession,” from The Fatal Feast, but it’s the B-side that will appeal most strongly to diehard Municipal Waste fans. That side of the single features rerecordings of two songs, “Garbage Stomp” and “Poser Disposer,” from Municipal Waste’s second release, a split LP with Crucial Unit that came out in 2002 on Six Weeks Records*, and is long out of print. The new versions of these songs are recorded in much higher quality than the originals, and feature current drummer Dave Witte behind the kit, so they constitute a marked improvement over the original recordings. Even though the entire three-song single only clocks in at three and a half minutes or so, it’s definitely worth adding to your collection of Municipal Waste colored vinyl.
Of course, in order to get this limited edition blue vinyl, of which there will only be 500 copies available, you’re going to have to order the deluxe pop-up vinyl edition of The Fatal Feast, which is available for pre-order from Nuclear Blast right now. Priced at $50, it’ll set you back a fair chunk of change, but in addition to the Scion A/V single, you’ll also get The Fatal Feast on red vinyl, in a gatefold jacket with a pop-up display inside, plus a copy of the album on CD, featuring bonus track “Eviction Party,” and an autographed lithograph. It’s really worth every penny of your hard-earned dough that you’ll spend on it, but we all know there’s a recession going on, so if you just don’t have the scratch, thankfully Scion A/V have made it possible for you to hear the songs from the 7″ regardless. It’ll make the perfect soundtrack for the pregaming you do before you head out on this lovely Friday evening to do some serious partying! Of course, you’ll have to play it about 20 times in a row before you’ll get a buzz, but that’s part of its charm!
*–Bizarre Trivia Dept: My band, Tri State Killing Spree, also released an LP on Six Weeks in 2002. Of course, we broke up three months later, so the resemblance between Municipal Waste and my old band pretty much ends right there.
