On June 22, 2024, Texas Beach in Richmond became the epicenter of the city’s skateboarding scene for Go Skate Day 2024. Organized by Venue Skateboards and backed by prizes from Heroin Skateboards, the event featured a loose blend of skate contests, local music, and food provided by 1115 Kitchen. Skaters from all over the city gathered at the skatepark, coming together for a day of skating and community.

Local photographer Cristian Espinoza was on hand to document. Check our interview with him HERE.

For those that want an idea of the Richmond scene is like, check the short doc that legendary skate photographer Jonathan Mehring put together. Also, check our interview with him HERE.

For this that don’t know, Go Skateboarding Day has its roots in 2004 when the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) initiated the event to promote skateboarding worldwide. Since then, it’s grown into a global phenomenon, with skaters from all walks of life hitting the streets and parks to celebrate the culture and the sport.
