Djo, the musical project of actor and musician Joe Keery, made his Richmond debut at Allianz Amphitheater on Friday night, drawing a packed crowd for one of the summer’s most anticipated indie shows. Best known to many as Steve Harrington from Stranger Things, Keery has carved out a hugely successful music career with Djo, blending psychedelic pop and synth-driven indie rock. Backed by a full band, towering lighting rigs, and one of the largest crowds the amphitheater has hosted this summer, Djo turned the venue into a sea of singing fans.
Australian psych rock favorites Pond opened the night with a set that complemented Djo’s dreamy pop sensibilities. Earlier in the day, members of the band stopped by Richmond favorite 3 Monkeys Bar & Grill. The restaurant later shared a photo with Tame Impala mastermind Kevin Parker, who was in town with the tour, sending local fans into a minor frenzy.
