RVA Bass Bulletin #5: Powered By White Raver Rafting

Besides being pissed off at Congress for SOPA and PIPA with everyone else who suddenly seems to care about the bills, I guess you could say it was a bit of a slow week in regards to EDM news. Maybe it’s just because the last few weeks have spoiled us, who knows. Regardless, new hot shit is constantly getting dropped for us.

This week’s mouth watering 4 track EP from Zed’s Dead proved to be my seven day peak. We posted the full album leak, but unfortunately neither it nor the four tracks are anywhere to be found or downloaded on the web anymore. Now you are most likely going to have to wait and buy it when it releases on Itunes Jan 23. Then again, I’m sure a free download will pop up again somewhere and when it does, I’ll make sure to give it to you.

If there was any falseness to my previous statement that the Zed’s EP was my favorite drop of the week, it would be due to the new Skrillex “Breakn A Sweat” remix from Zedd. Certified BANGER. It’s amazing how one track like this can fuel my desire to catch a live set. All I want to do right now is dance to this remix with a mass of crazy ravers. You can call it what you want, but I dub this style as aggressive electro, which is quickly becoming my favorite kind of electronica. Sensual house elements jacked up on energy and dirty bass would be the definition Webster’s would provide.

Last night was the College Invasion Tour at Hat Factory. Let’s just say it immensely exceeded my expectations. I am still recovering, and haven’t really even had a chance to reflect on the night. The local DJs brought dope sounds and great vibes, while Prestige Promo put on a hell of an event with a shit-ton of people. Expect a review in the next few days, and stay posted for the next event.

Banging This Week:
