RVA TV: RVA Sessions: Battleflags

by | Jul 29, 2011 | MUSIC

Battle Flags is one guy, Jack Budd, who created an album, Color Engine, out of an 8X10 bedroom in a small shanty house in Oregon Hill. Jack used Battle Flags as a moniker for his art, which was originally BFFCC, an acronym standing for Battle Flags For Counter Culture. He needed a short video for his Kickstarter page and we were happy to help, considering how many of his songs we’ve used in our videos.

“I wanted to cover up the dull industrial greys of utility boxes, the poopy browns of traffic light casings, and the myriad signs around my city telling me what I was not allowed to do. First I took the pictures and words of my most admired poets and heroes. Then, I mixed them with my favorite colors and began plastering them around my city. It turns out the police don’t like this very much, and after a minor scuffle I began working on ways to do this from an aural perspective instead of a visual one. Thus Battle Flags was born.” – Jack Budd
