Girls Rock! RVA is an organization dedicated to empowering girls to collaborate together in an environment encouraging creativity and self-expression. It has been in existence here in Richmond since 2010, and is currently in the process of hosting its second annual weeklong camp for 50 campers between the ages of 8 and 14. As part of the process of attending the weeklong camp, the campers have formed 10 different bands and written sets of original songs. And this Saturday, those bands will present their material for the first time at a special show at the Hippodrome Theatre! As any attendee of Rock Lotto shows from years past knows, it’s a challenge even for grownups to come up with a set of original material in only a week’s time, so you can be sure that these girls have worked hard. But the spur of the moment sometimes inspires the best, most entertaining ideas, so you can also expect some interesting and unique music to come out of the intense workshop environment this camp provides. Knowing all of that, how could you possibly pass up the opportunity to see these girls rock RVA for the very first time? And at the Hippodrome, no less! Seriously, y’all, this is gonna be SO COOL. We’ll see you there!

WHAT: Girls Rock! RVA Camper Showcase!
WHERE: The Hippodrome Theatre (528 N. 2nd St.)
WHEN: Saturday, August 11 Doors open at 11:30 AM, show starts at 12 noon
ADMISSION: $10 donation goes to fund Girls Rock! RVA
