Netflix’s hit summer sci-fi horror series Stranger Things that we’ve all become obsessed with will be getting it’s very own soundtrack this Friday.

Netflix’s hit summer sci-fi horror series Stranger Things that we’ve all become obsessed with will be getting it’s very own soundtrack this Friday. The OST will be released in two volumes, with the first volume arriving digitally August 12th, and on hard copy September 16th. The second will follow with a digital release August 19th and it’s hard copy on September 23rd.

The Netflix original series, which was released July 15th, takes place in Indiana in the 80s and is so 80s and packed with so many references it will make your heart swell. The eight chapters of the first season follow three young boys as they search for their friend who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of a new friend, the gang searches for clues in the supernatural unknown to bring their friend back home. If you haven’t seen it, that’s all will give you as not to spoil it, but trust us you need to be watching this show.

The makers of the score are two members of Austin synth band “Survive”, Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein. According to an interview they did with Rolling Stone, Dixon said that the makers of the series wanted the soundtrack to be scary and full of nostalgia.

“They were like, ‘Make it scary as fuck.’ They’re like, ‘We want to scare the shit out of some little kids … and adults, so go for it.’,” Dixon said. “Especially for some of the more intense scenes, they were like, ‘Just make it go even harder. Make it as crazy as possible.’”

Editor’s note: I’m a total hipster douchebag and I’m letting everyone know that I was on to the SURVIVE dudes a few years back. They still have an old SoundCloud account featuring tons of early work which sounds similar to what made it onto the show.
