TOMORROW: Soulfully Me On 106 & Park

by | Oct 25, 2011 | MUSIC

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed, but it seems to me that a lot of Richmond hip-hop artists are getting their names out there and grabbing the spotlight beyond the city limits lately. This is a great development for RVA hip-hop, of course–it’s great to see our scene on the upswing, growing stronger by the week. And this week, yet another RVA hip-hop artist is getting out there, as Soulfully Me is appearing on BET’s 106 & Park tomorrow afternoon. This young local rapper has been on the scene for a little while now, releasing his Confessions Of A College Kid album for free on the internet about a year ago, but this BET appearance is him taking it to the next level in a big way. His new single, “Brighter,” has been picking up a buzz online in recent weeks, and for good reason–it’s an upbeat tune that displays his lyrical talent but also includes an undeniable chorus that will stick in your head for hours at a time. He mentions being “on the verge of blowing up” in the song, and maybe that’s exactly what this 106 & Park appearance will mean for him. Either way, it’s good to see one of our own making a high-profile appearance like this, so be sure to tune in tomorrow at 6 PM and check it out. And for a little preview of what you’re gonna hear, check out the Soundcloud file after the jump. You won’t be sorry.
