Trapitol Hill 2014 is a huge dance party taking place on Saturday, May 17 at DC’s Blind Whino. You may remember Blind Whino as the former church in DC’s SW neighborhood on which Art Whino got Atlanta artist HENSE to paint a full-building mural. Since then, the folks at Art Whino have continued to restore and improve the building, recently adding a mural that wraps around the entire inside performance area by Australian artist House Of Meggs. The venue has become one of the most attractive places to enjoy music and art in the DC area, and it’ll be showcased to its full potential when Trapitol Hill takes place there next month!

This event is headlined by Mad Decent recording artist ETC(!)ETC(!). A veteran of the electro-house scene, he’s recently set his sights on the world of moombahton–which of course makes him a perfect headliner for this DC event. Check out “RUBBR,” his recent original mix produced in collaboration with Canadian producer Snails:

There are plenty of other heavy hitters on this bill, though. High Klassified is a Montreal producer signed to Fool’s Gold, with all the hip hop influence you’d expect from that association. A member of A-Trak and Lex Luger’s Low Pros crew, High Klassified will definitely put the “trap” in Trapitol Hill. With Baltimore DJ duo RaceCarBed, DC’s own Bortz, and plenty of other artists on the bill as well, you’re guaranteed a full evening of nonstop dancing!

Metro Sound Is Still Here. Richmond Just Keeps Making It Harder.

When Mark Szafranski bought the building at 117 West Broad Street in 1991, the property was in disrepair. Water seeped from the upper floors, the windows were falling in, and downtown Richmond was, at the time, more forgotten than revitalized. But Szafranski, a...
