Satire-punk legends The Dead Milkmen, who you may remember from such all-time classics as “Punk Rock Girl,” “Bitchin’ Camaro,” “Smokin’ Banana Peels,” and “If You Love Somebody, Set Them On Fire,” amongst many others, will be performing live within this very city in less than two weeks!

Satire-punk legends The Dead Milkmen, who you may remember from such all-time classics as “Punk Rock Girl,” “Bitchin’ Camaro,” “Smokin’ Banana Peels,” and “If You Love Somebody, Set Them On Fire,” amongst many others, will be performing live within this very city in less than two weeks! Thanks to the tireless efforts of Worthless Junk Records CEO Bucky Lewis, the Dead Milkmen will be making a special trip down from Philadelphia to rock Shockoe Bottom venue Kingdom for one night only!
The Dead Milkmen, who released eight classic albums during the late 80s and early 90s before breaking up due to health problems and troubles with inattentive major labels, reformed in 2008 with 3/4 of their original lineup (deceased bassist Dave Blood was replaced by Dan Stevens). Since then, they’ve released their first album of new material in 16 years, 2011’s The King In Yellow, and begun work on yet another new album, with new material scheduled to appear on their website this week! Clearly the passing of time has not slowed the Dead Milkmen down at all, and you’ll get a chance to see them demonstrate their continued vitality right here in RVA next Saturday night!

First, we’ve got an absolutely amazing live version of “Bitchin’ Camaro,” filmed earlier this year at Slim’s in San Francisco. It starts off with Rodney Anonymous ranting for over 5 minutes about a particular family of rednecks with a reality show on the Learning Channel, but the rant is hilarious and absolutely worth hearing all the way through. Then after that, the true pinnacle of the Dead Milkmen’s career: the video for their 1988 hit single “Punk Rock Girl.” I’m sure you’ve all seen it a thousand times, but it’s always worth seeing again.
