Attention all fans of gorgeous melodies and awesome indie rock music! City And Colour, the solo project of former Alexisonfire guitarist Dallas Green, will be at the National this Sunday–and you could win a pair of tickets to this awesome show from your friends at RVA Magazine! While City And Colour is hardly the roaring guitar-driven post-hardcore powerhouse that Alexisonfire was, the much more mellow project retains the excellent melodic sensibility Green demonstrated throughout his previous band’s career. The project, which released its fourth album, The Hurry And The Harm, back in June, adds all sorts of diverse influences, from acoustic folk to old-time country to R&B and classic rock, to Green’s musical palette, resulting in a varied, multifaceted, and always entertaining listen. Green’s five-piece touring band, which currently includes members of The Raconteurs and The Constantines, will do an excellent job of recreating his studio sound this Sunday at The National, and you can expect everything from sensitive acoustic tunes to full-on rockers from this excellent Canadian project. With British singer-songwriter Lucy Rose opening up, it’ll be a full night of beautiful sounds played on acoustic guitars, so make sure you’re there!
