Yes, it’s true–psychedelic rockers Deerhunter are returning to VA in less than one month’s time, this time with a show at Charlottesville’s Jefferson Theater on Tuesday, February 4. If you missed their last Richmond appearance, at the Sound City festival last August (and we know a lot of people did…), you’ll get another chance to see them just a couple of weeks from now, and this time you’d better be there!

Deerhunter had a really great 2013; not only did they release their excellent sixth (or seventh? Hard to keep track) album Monomania, they also curated the June 2013 edition of the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in Camber Sounds, England. Monomania proceeded to hit #41 on the Billboard albums chart, and received a Best New Music designation from Pitchfork. Its jangly, psychedelic rock n’ roll sound places it at the heavier end of Deerhunter’s catalog, which can be heard on one of the album’s standout tracks, “Back To The Middle.” Check out that song’s video right here:

And get stoked to see Deerhunter live, because bandleader Bradford Cox certainly likes to put on a show. Between his witty between-song banter, tendency to wear dresses and wigs onstage, and the energy he and the rest of the band put into delivering their music in the live environment, seeing Deerhunter is certainly way cooler than just sitting at home listening to the records. And odds are it’ll be louder as well. Really, you owe it to yourself to go to this show.
