Saturday September 24th, 6 members of the RVA Beard League ventured to the Mile High City with sights set on winning at the Great American Beard and Moustache Championship- and they did just that.

Denver Colorado played host to the first Great American Beard and Moustache Championship. Over 200 competitors travelled from all over the US to compete in the 21 categories including two categories exclusively for women & children to craft their own follicles, (the first time an event at this level has done so.)

Another great aspect to this event would be that both local and national charities will receive well over $15,000.

Over the course of the night 7 judges looked at hundreds of Mustaches, Goatees, and Beards. But at the end of the night, the RVA Beard League walked away with three 1st place wins, a 2nd place, and a Best in Show.

Katie Quinn: 1st Place Artistic Realistic

Patrick Quinn: 1st Place Sideburns / Chops

Johnathan Wakefield: 2nd Place Full Beard Freestyle

Chad Roberts: Judge

That is not the only win of the weekend. On Sunday, members of all the clubs got together to discuss the next competition, being held in 2018. Three clubs had been nominated, and RVA was voted the winner to host the 2018 Great American Beard and Mustache Championship.

We’re looking forward to a town full of even more beards!
