It looks like the internet is eating itself – A/V Undercover, the AV Club’s music video series featuring artist covering classic tracks, just released something hilarious.
In the video below you’ll see Iron and Wine’s Samuel “Sam” Beam, in all his bearded, open-shirt glory, covering GWAR’s classic “Sick of You.”
“We knew that putting a GWAR song on the Undercover list would present a big challenge, because who wants to mess with a band that has developed such a strong following ‘round here and whose songs are so closely linked to their presentation?” wrote the AV Club. “But we talked Undercover alum Sam Beam—a.k.a. Iron And Wine—into making a special trip to Chicago to play “Sick Of You,” which he chose from the band’s vast catalog (and made his own, as you’ll see).”
We’ve included the original “Sick of You” below for context.
Stick around for the end to see the GWAR boys show their lack of approval for the beautiful cover. (They were probably hanging around after covering Cyndi Lauper’s 1984 classic “She Bop.”)
And the original from GWAR’s 1990 album, “Scumdogs Of The Universe”.
